Free Worksheet Generators - Printable and Interactive

With the educational budget crunches that we are all facing, I thought it would be best to share some of the best freebies on the web for teachers.  Today’s topic is worksheet generators.  If you need to create a puzzle, test, graphic organizer, or math problems, you do have some great tools available.  I have provided links that offer printable sheets and interactive sites that help you promote a paperless classroom and give students with disabilities more options over paper and pencil activities.

Printable Games and Puzzles

Printable Handwriting Worksheets

  • D’Nealian Worksheet Maker – Simply type in a student’s first and last name.  A worksheet generates with cues of where to start and stop writing.  Although this is meant for student names, it does work with any word you type in the form.
  • Pre-Writing Worksheets - This site generates simple pre-writing, shape construction activities. Simply choose a worksheet option on the right and click print.
  • The Writing Wizard – This site works best with only one or two words for students to practice their handwriting.  Simply fill out the form and the worksheet generates.

Interactive Handwriting Practice

  • Writing Repeater – This is a great site for interactive whiteboards.  You do have the option of providing handwriting lines or not.  Once the word is written in the web space, press the SAVE button.  Now press PLAY and the site will play back how the word was written.

Printable Graphic Organizers

  • Holt Graphic Organizers – These can be interactive or printed.  It’s your choice. There really are some fantastic organizers here, and what I like best is students can fill these out at individual computers, print, and turn in for assignments.
  • Instant Poetry Forms – Another one of my favorite sites on the web.  Here students fill in the poetry forms and the program generates a worksheet to print.  The generated work can also be copied and pasted into any program or web site.
  • Recipes 4 Success – A basic worksheet generator.  Simply give the worksheet a title and instructions, the generator does the rest.
  • Scholastic Printable Graphic Organizers – These are actually premade, not customizable, but very good.

Interactive Graphic Organizers

  • Classtools.net – scroll down and look for the green links on the right.  All of these are interactive to be completed on the internet.
  • Read Write Think – I really like the amazing graphic organizers including a timeline generator here.  My only wish would be for students to save what they have started and return to it later.  Once you close out the tool, you lose your content.
  • Scholastic‘s Class Set-up Tool – Need to create a seating chart?  Do it the easy and interactive way here.

Math Problem Worksheets

  • Math.com Algebra Worksheet Generator – Create equation and quadratics practice worksheets
  • Superkids Math  - Offers basic math and includes some older grade choices on exponents, averages, and order of operations.
  • The Math Worksheet Site – Basic math drill sheets from fractions to telling time.  There is also a graphing paper with x and y coordinates and optional line numbering.
  • The Teacher’s Corner Math Worksheet Generator – This site has some basic math and Algebra I worksheets available.  Also included is a counting money worksheet generator.   You will need to scroll down to start.

Tests and Quizzes

  • Easy Test Maker – You will need to register at this site, but it truly is an easy and great tool.  You simply fill in the questions, and this generator will do all the formatting for you.  This is a free site, but you do have the option of upgrading to their plus version for even more tools.  I do recommend the free version, however.
